The ancient winegrowing heritage and the ideal soil and climatic conditions inspired the oenologists Vangelis Gerovassiliou and Vassilis Tsaktsarlis, in 1998, to establish a 7ha organically cultivated vineyard, which today extends over 80ha.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>[vc_column_text]In June 2001, construction of the modern winery began, and within the same year the first wines were vinified. The Estate\u2019s name, Ktima Biblia Chora, \u201cktima\u201d meaning \u201cestate\u201d in Greek, was proposed by Dr. Stavroula Kourakou-Dragona and is closely connected to the history of the region, which dates back to ancient times. When the Phoenicians, master seafarers and traders, came to Pangeon in search of precious metals, they inevitably contributed to the spread of vine cultivars and the art of winemaking. With them they brought a sacred vine known as \u201cBiblia Ampelos\u201d from the port city of Byblos in Phoenicia.<\/p>\n
The ancient Greeks continued to cultivate this variety on the slopes of Mount Pangaion, producing the renowned \u201cBiblinos Oinos\u201d of antiquity.
