Estate Chrisohoou
our kilometers from Naoussa, known as ``The City of Wine and Vineyards``, lies the region of Strantza.
There, on the southeastern slopes of Mount Vermion, in an altitude of 250 meters above sea level and in the very heart of the “P.D.O. Naoussa,” you will find the vineyards and the winery of Estate Chrisohoou [pronunciation: khree-soh-KHO-oo] – who produce their wines with utmost care and passionate love.
The winery is not only a place of wine production, but constitutes an interesting place to visit for those who wish to reveal the secrets of winemaking. The visitor has the opportunity to visit the spaces of wine production and bottling, the cellar, the museum with collection of various viticulture and enological objects and the special tasting rooms.
WINES
The Estate Chrisohoou produces Red Wines P.D.O. Naoussa and White, red and rose P.G.I. Imathia wines.
In the Estate’s private vineyards various white and red varieties are cultivated. The most renowned is XINOMAVRO NAOUSSA which in 1971 was recognized as red V.Q.P.R.D. (Vin de Qualité Produit Dans Une Région Déterminée – Wines of Quality Produced in Determined Regions). From this red variety the company also produces a white wine with the method of “Blanc de Noir” (white wine from red) and a rose wine. Other varieties include the famous French Merlot, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc, Malagouzia, and the old but little known local white grape PRIKNADI from which the famous PREKNIARIKO is produced.
