Klonas Boutique Winery
he first vineyards were planted at the end of the last century by Grandfather Takis Klonas.
From the very first harvests, an aromatic complexity in the grapes was noticeable. This led Grandfather to begin the winemaking process, resulting in the first bottling. Today, the winery continues with the cultivation of various varieties, producing approximately 60,000 bottles annually, with the majority of the production being exported to Europe, America, Canada, and Asia.
The winery’s goal is to highlight the unexplored wealth of native varieties such as Xinomavro and Preknadi, as well as to establish Naoussa on the global wine map, where it belongs.
Xinomavro, the “diva of the North,” is at the heart of the winery’s production. This variety defines our red PDO wines with intensity, complexity, and aging potential. Among the whites, Preknadi, one of Greece’s rarest native white varieties, reveals the freshness and unique terroir of Naoussa.
The collection also includes wines from other Greek and international varieties, such as Assyrtiko- Malagouzia, Syrah, and Merlot.
The vineyard, as well as the winery, is located in the heart of the PDO Naoussa region, in the Paliokalias area, at an altitude of approximately 250 meters. The soil is clay-loam, and the region’s microclimate facilitates ideal drainage. The majority of the vineyard is sloped, linear, with a northeast orientation. A low yield of approximately 800 kg per hectare is maintained. The primary direction of cultivation is sustainable agriculture, avoiding the use of herbicides and pesticides.
Location: Paliokalias, Naoussa
Area: 30 hectares
Orientation: Mainly NE
Soil Slope: 15-20%
Altitude: Approximately 250 meters
The climate is primarily Mediterranean with continental influences. The altitude is a determining factor for the vineyard, while proximity to Mount Vermio provides natural protection from strong winds. The winter is relatively cold, the summer is warm with cool nights, and during spring and autumn, mild temperatures prevail.
Rich vegetation and agricultural land surround the vineyard, and within it, a loquat tree stands out.
